Bright minds invited to test new projects on 5G testbeds

Technology companies, start-ups and universities are invited to join the INITIATE project workshop.

The INITIATE testbeds are connected using dedicated Janet Network links, Jisc’s private distributed, national network.

Jeremy Sharp, Janet chief technology officer comments:

“This workshop is an exciting example of how the research community can use our Janet network to explore new products using the INITIATE testbed facilities.

With speeds up to 10 Gbit/sec our dedicated Janet connection plays an instrumental role in supporting development of cutting-edge technologies.”

This event will provide a first look at state-of-the-art proof of concepts (PoC) relating to the application of technologies such as 5G, Haptics, IoT, Immersive and LiFi across Jisc’s private distributed, national network.

The testbeds are directly linked cutting-edge laboratories at the universities of Bristol, Lancaster, Edinburgh and King’s College London and Digital Catapult.

Participants will get a chance to build a new product or improve an existing one by testing them in multi-site and distributed environments provided by the INITIATE project.

The workshop will allow experimenters and innovators to bring concepts for development into the project and challenge the testbed owners on key concepts addressed on the testbed.

The next INITIATE workshop will take place in London on Monday 16 March 2020 and will be hosted by Digital Catapult, the UK’s leading advanced digital technology innovation centre.

This event is attended by application only. Please register your interest via the Digital Catapult website.
